it's not like the new android phones are so much better than last year. so far the only dual core ARM Core A9 phone is the Motorola Atrix and it wasn't that good. The VZW Thunderbolt is last year's CPU with LTE. My HTC INspire 4G is the same CPU as the Thunderbolt with HSPA+ and the iphone 4 beats it in uploads

You have heard about the LG Optimus Speed or the Samsung Galaxy S2, haven't you? Aren't they available in the US, because I can order them on Amazon Germany now just one click away!

Here is something I didn't consider when thinking about a MBA, does it have a protective glass front over the panel to protect it? Say, from sneezing fits?

Anyone has experience with Miro player ?
I'm tired of running video in browser or VLC and have MBA running hot and fan going at 6K rpm full on.
Does the MBA run better playing video on it ?

I'm thinking about going back to 4.0.1 and just staying there. The double vibration for texts is dumb, battery life now sucks (although this only happened with 4.3+), my 3GS is quite a bit slower than what it had been, and I am also getting "call failed" each time i try to dial out for the first time.
I don't expect my 3GS to work like an iPhone 4. But I don't see anything new that I've actually found myself using to warrant putting up with any of the above issues.

I'm getting a new receiver for my living room that supports 5.1, but I've tried hooking up my MBP to my friend's receiver, but it only output 2 channels. The problem may have been the fact that I was using analog audio out. If I use a digital mini to Toslink cable to connect it, should I be able to get 5.1 audio out? I looked in the archives, but didn't find an answer.

The irony of a forum with a very large gay and bisexual membership to ask for blood donations is beyond ridiculous.
Think this through, MacRumors, think this through.
I think what good donating blood does is bigger than your sexual orientation, or mine. I would have died if not for donated blood, so maybe I'm biased, I don't know.

Really? Have you read the thread? This is far from the only argument given to get rid of the death penalty.
Yes, and they're all just bleeding heart emotional responses, and i don't buy into that crap. Sorry, but my opinion on this isn't changing. Funny, the polls say non-religious people between the age of 18-29 are most likely to support the death penalty, and that's exactly where i fit.

It's not. Risky male to female sex is also excluded (sleeping with anyone involved in the sex industry). It's a question of exposure to mixing blood, and thus communicating disease. Statistically, Male to Male sex increases that risk...
...The issue is that male to male sex by its very nature has a higher chance of passing on certain diseases than male to female. Risky male to female is also excluded (if you have slept with a prostitute or been in countries with high levels of disease)...
Arrgh! You cited the tamest statistic from the CDC article. Here are the others: 20% of gay men are HIV positive and 44% don't know it.
THAT is why the question is asked. As a future possible recipient of blood, I'm glad they ask it.
The question asked of heterosexuals =/= asked gay and bisexual men. The risk factor for straight people is risky sex, the risk factor asked for gay men is not risky sex, but sex at all - even once. Its not the same thing. If there was no bigotry behind the question it would be raised this way to all, no matter what orientation "have you had unprotected sex with more than one partner in the last 5 years, if yes have you been tested for HIV?"

I don't make a living with Photoshop, but it is a pretty serious side activity of mine, and as I said before, for what it is, Photogene is perfectly adequate for the general iPad user.
Unless they can add color profiles, different colorspaces other than RGB (LAB, CMYK, et al.), Photoshop for professional use will never get off the ground on a device like this.
Not to say you should be able to do a complete workflow from import to print on a tablet device, which, at least for now, seems completely unrealistic -- but I would think pros need to be able to import, see colors in a reasonable approximation for proofing or showing to clients, and maybe make spot edits based on client feedback.
I honestly wasn't too thrilled with Photoshop Express, which is why when I saw Photogene, I was immediately impressed with is features.

Well, actual road map data and satellite data is all provided by the governments.
You should tell that to Tele Atlas and Navteq :)
Satellite data may come from government satellites but most companies do not have the resources to deal with the governments directly for this data. And road data comes from lots of sources but these two major companies have spent years curating it. You can't just buy road data from the government unless you want people driving off cliffs.

Rule # 1 of slickdeals, never call (or email in this case).
Wait, what forum is this?
As someone whom runs a store that has been "slickdeal"'d in the past, and as a frequent member, I know what kind of volume that (and the 100s of other websites that posted this deal) can generate. I am sure more the 10 million people had the potential to see this deal, and bought these iPads. You have no worries. They are gone and not coming back in stock at those store. You missed out.

Well, as I said before
NUTTY FOLKS: OMG Apple keeps a copy of some wifi stations on my phone. It's a huge privacy violation!
FACT: Apple doesn't access the database cache, emails, passwords, photos on your phone either.
Except, Apple says that they actually do access the location database:
5. Can Apple locate me based on my geo-tagged Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower data?
No. This data is sent to Apple in an anonymous and encrypted form. Apple cannot identify the source of this data.
8. What other location data is Apple collecting from the iPhone besides crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspot and cell tower data?
Apple is now collecting anonymous traffic data to build a crowd-sourced traffic database with the goal of providing iPhone users an improved traffic service in the next couple of years.

Again, have you read the thread? I wasn't aware, "It costs more to execute someone than keep him in prison for life," was a "bleeding heart emotional response." I also didn't think, "It's impossible to be 100% certain," was emotional either. Funny, to me, these arguments seemed pretty fact-based. The only one with an emotional response is you, demanding blood.
It's impossible to be 100% certain is a crap response, because in many cases it is 100% certain, and i've named a few already. Also, the whole financial issue is very debatable and i don't think anyone here has solid figures on it. The only reason it may cost more to execute someone is because of all the appeals and court costs, this can easily be fixed so execution is the most economical way. I'm not going any further into this because my stance that some people are unworthy of life won't change. Peace out girl scout.
I referred to this case in the human versus animal value thread when a few posters said that any human life has more value than any animal. They would save the life of either of these guys over any animal.
Are you frickin kidding me? I didn't participate in that thread and now i'm glad i didn't. Funny you mention it though, because i just watched this video and it brought tears to my eyes. Watch it, it shows how animals are more humane than some humans.
